Glasgow Airport Taxi Guide
Everything you need to know about pick-up zones, the £7 forecourt drop-off charge, and fixed fares between Glasgow Airport and Helensburgh, Loch Lomond, Glasgow city centre and beyond.
Pick-up zones at Glasgow Airport
Pre-booked private hire vehicles collect from the Terminal Multi Storey car park directly opposite the main terminal. It is a 2-minute covered walk from arrivals via a signposted pedestrian bridge — no crossing live traffic and no shuttle needed. Your driver will text you the exact level and bay number once your flight lands.
Black cabs use the metered taxi rank immediately outside the terminal doors. They are convenient for short hops (e.g. Glasgow city centre) but do not offer fixed fares for longer runs to Helensburgh, Loch Lomond or Argyll.
Black Cab Rank
Metered taxis directly outside terminal doors. Best for short hops into Glasgow city centre.
Express Pick Up & Drop Off (£7 / 15 min)
Terminal forecourt zone directly outside the main terminal. ANPR reads your number plate on entry — pay by card or contactless at the exit barrier (cash not accepted). Stay longer than 15 min and a premium charge is added on exit.
Terminal Multi Storey — Pre-booked Pick-up

Terminal Multi Storey (paid parking)
Use if you need longer than 15 min to meet your passenger. Tariff is charged by duration at the exit barrier — there is no free option for hire vehicles.
Walking directions from the terminal
Step out of arrivals (Baggage Reclaim exit) and use these routes to reach each pick-up zone. Every route below is described with step-free options, lift locations, and where to avoid stairs.
Step-free throughout: the terminal, all covered walkways, and the Terminal Multi Storey car park are lift-served with tactile paving and dropped kerbs. If you use a wheelchair, have reduced mobility, or are travelling with a pushchair, book a Meet & Greet (£25) so the driver waits inside arrivals and takes the step-free route with you. Blue badge holders get 30 minutes free in the Terminal Multi Storey (press the exit barrier buzzer and have the 13-digit badge number ready).

Meet & Greet — where to stand and how to spot your driver
Meet & Greet (£25) means your driver parks up, walks into the terminal, and meets you personally with a name board. Perfect for first visits, families, elderly passengers, or anyone with heavy luggage.
Exactly where to stand
Collect your bags and exit through the Baggage Reclaim sliding doors into the main arrivals hall.
Turn immediately left and walk to the row of seats opposite WHSmith and Costa Coffee. This is the official meeting area.
Stand near the round information pillar under the flight arrivals screen — drivers always walk in via the door directly opposite.
Do not leave the terminal. If you step outside to the taxi rank or drop-off kerb, you will miss each other — the driver is inside with a board.
What3words for the meeting point: ///spending.chairs.chin — share this with your travel companions.
How to identify your driver
Name board: A5 printed sign with your surname (or booking reference if you asked for discretion) plus the words "Colin Taxi".
ID badge: Argyll & Bute council private-hire badge worn on a lanyard, with photo and licence number.
Dress: Dark polo or shirt with a small "Colin Taxi" logo on the chest.
Confirmation SMS: 15 minutes before landing you will receive the driver's first name, mobile number, vehicle make, colour, and registration. Match these before leaving with anyone.
Verification phrase: Ask the driver to state your booking reference back to you. Genuine drivers have it — touts do not.
Never accept a ride from anyone approaching you in the terminal without a name board. If in doubt, call us on 07497 835121 and we will confirm the driver's details on the phone.
If you can't find your driver:
- Stay put at the meeting point — moving makes it worse.
- Call the driver's mobile from the SMS first (fastest).
- If no answer within 2 minutes, call the office on 07497 835121 — we track vehicles live and will radio the driver.
- If your phone is flat, ask any airport information desk to page "Colin Taxi driver for [your name]" over the terminal PA.
Parking & payment at Glasgow Airport
All Glasgow Airport car parks and the Express Pick Up & Drop Off zone are completely cashless. Payment is by credit / debit card or contactless (chip & PIN or contactless) at the exit barriers and at the upgraded Pay Stations — there is no additional fee for using cards. Pre-booked airport transfers with us always build the £7 forecourt fee into the quoted fare so there are no surprises at the barrier.
- Express Pick Up & Drop Off — £7 for up to 15 minutes. Located directly outside the main terminal in the terminal multi-storey. Only card payments are accepted on exit. Stay longer than 15 minutes and a premium charge is added on exit.
- Free Long Stay Pick Up & Drop Off — up to 1 hour free in the Long Stay car park, with a free shuttle bus to the terminal. Suits private car pick-ups; not used by pre-booked private-hire taxis (drivers meet you in the Terminal Multi Storey).
- Roll-up parking (no pre-book): pay on exit at the barriers or at any upgraded Pay Station via contactless or chip & PIN. At a Pay Station, enter your vehicle registration and the fee is calculated automatically. No entry ticket is issued unless the ANPR system can't read your plate.
- Pre-book parking online and save up to 50% vs turn-up rates. No ticket needed — ANPR recognises the registration and the barrier lifts automatically on entry and exit. Bookings can be extended online via Manage my Booking.
- Pay as you Go account for frequent users of the Express Drop Off zone or Terminal Multi Storey — register a card and payments are deducted automatically on exit with receipts emailed.
- Blue badge holders get 30 minutes free in the Terminal Multi Storey (press the assistance buzzer at the exit barrier and have the 13-digit badge number ready — a photocopy is accepted if the driver is collecting). Blue badge holders should not use the Express Pick Up & Drop Off zone. This free window is for private use only — not for commercial, hire or reward.
- Coaches and buses must drop off in Zone C, not the terminal forecourt.
